Kind Words

Classical Encounters is an inspiring, multifaceted program that my whole family enjoyed. Each week's lessons engaged our senses and helped us encounter the rich beauty of the foundations of western music. The program was thorough, conveniently laid out, and easy to follow. This was a perfect addition to our home studies!
We've ended each school day this week with your program and it's been truly lovely." The course is informative, but I love most that we can end the day in stillness and contemplation, listening to beautiful music and drawing or coloring beautiful pictures. Thank you so much, Sadie!
We found Classical Encounters to be just what we needed to add beauty and reflection to our week and give our kids a strong foundation in understanding music.
My kids and I are loving this resource! We did the drawing tutorial today while listening to the provided playlist. It was sublime!
We have been looking for a music appreciation curriculum that actually teaches how to listen to music and learn about music in an engaging way. Often what you get is a composer history without really delving into what makes that particular music unique or musical. And there are only so many times you can listen to Peter and Wolf. Classical Encounters provides a deep, rich look into the music of the time period and what elements make it important.
Sadie's Classical Encounters music program has benefited our family so much. My homeschooled kids range in age from 6 to 14 and we all learned so much from both the historical and musical components. My personal favorite was learning about Hildegard of Bingen. The art projects were a huge hit too! I highly recommend Sadie's program to all families looking to bring beautiful music and art into their homes.
Sadie has developed a beautiful curriculum for introducing children to classical music! My children loved the polyphony coloring pages and I was impressed with the amount of history included in the guide. We all enjoyed painting Notre Dame in watercolors while listening to Sadie's carefully curated selections. The materials are beautifully formatted and easy to follow. This is a sweet way to make memories with your children, and educational as well.

Meet the Creator
Hey there! I’m a classically trained pianist & music educator who’s passionate about getting beautiful music into as many homes as possible.
Raised on good books, music and an inherited 1918 Grand Steinway on 50 acres of rolling hills and forests, I encountered the beauty within art and nature every single day of my childhood, and it transformed my outlook of the world.Â

I have over 15 years of experience as an educator, including as a piano teacher to a full private studio, a music appreciation teacher at an elementary school, and education assistant with the Pittsburgh Opera where I created materials used by over 100 local middle schools.
With degrees in both music & history and extensive experience as a performer & educator, my materials are grounded in academic & music excellence. and aim to draw out a child’s natural wonder and imagination while deepening knowledge.
Classical music was one of the greatest gifts I was given as a child, and I believe it is an art form that has the power to change hearts & minds.

Why is it important to include classical music in my home curriculum?
Z
Give your family the gift of experiencing the transcendence, wonder, and beauty of classical music!
-Classical music is one of the most powerful art forms that we have, and as such, our families deserve to encounter it regularly. It is universal in its reach and capable of expressing the full complexity and majesty of our existence.
-Classical music encompasses a canon of musical masterpieces. We call it the classical repertoire because these are works that have proved capable of speaking to the heart of what it means to be human across all time periods, continents, and cultures. If we work hard to enrich our lives with the canon of literary masterpieces, why should we not also enrich our lives with the canon of musical masterpieces?
Classical music was one of the most important gifts I was given as a child and it transformed my outlook of the world. All deserve to encounter the riches of the classical music repertoire and it’s essential that we incorporate this medium into our home education.
