Classical Encounters provides academically and aesthetically rich curricula on the masterpieces of the classical canon for parents, educators, and lifelong learners. Our resources invite students of all ages into the historical, artistic, and cultural worlds behind the music, thereby facilitating active participation with one of the world’s most powerful art forms.

Through story-rich narrations, inside-the-score listening activities, and connections to architecture, fine art, and literature, our curriculum deepens historical understanding, integrates the arts, and cultivates a reverence for beauty. Whether you’re a parent enriching your home learning, a teacher looking for classroom curricula, or an adult learner seeking to develop a more confident, attuned ear, Classical Encounters equips you with high-quality, engaging materials that bring the classical canon to life.

Our Mission

In a culture inundated with screens and digital distraction, we believe that cultivating regular encounters with classical music in our homes and classrooms is essential to replenish and restore the essence of our humanity. Stripped of spectacle, classical music weaves together intricate musical lines and a richly varied palette to form majestic cathedrals of sound that stand as pinnacles of human artistry. Our resources invite listeners to step inside these expansive sonic landscapes to experience deep creativity, contemplation and catharsis. We aim to awaken and nourish the natural intelligence and wonder of all ages, and we strive to create curricula of high quality design, content and imagery to honor the transcendent beauty encountered within the music.

NOTE FROM THE FOUNDEr

One of the greatest gifts I received as a child was exposure to the classical repertoire.

Classical Music instilled a sense of awe and wonder in me, expressed emotions I could not yet articulate, taught me how to listen closely and perceive, and showed me mankind’s great capacity to create beauty, harmony, and order out of life’s experiences. In Bach’s cantatas I heard all of human life joining together in unified, harmonious polyphony; in Mozart’s sonatas and symphonies of exquisite precision and grace, I understood the beauty of a well ordered life; and in Beethoven’s nine monumental symphonies, I glimpsed the struggle, resilience and transcendence of humanity in all its glory.

Children of today are in greater need than ever of good art. Born into a world that often prioritizes passive consumption and hyper productivity over creative participation, children need to encounter powerful works of art that remind them of their inherent worth as a creative being meant to play an active part in this beautiful life. Classical music is a powerful creative space that allows each child to fill in the dots with their own unique interpretation. My greatest hope is to broaden the reach of classical music to as many hearts and homes as possible.
